Description
3.1 Corporate Reporting is a module in the Professional level of the ICAG syllabus. The aim of this module is to ensure that candidates apply the appropriate judgement and technical competence in the preparation and interpretation of financial statements for complex business entities. Students must also be able to evaluate and communicate the impact of current issues and developments in corporate reporting to those who may not have that technical expertise.
The module covers the following topics:
- Application of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs)
- Preparation of financial statements, notes and extracts for groups that comply with IFRSs
- Evaluation of entity position, performance and prospects using a range of financial and other data
- Advice on specialised transactions
- Assessment of ethical issues and appropriate ethical responses
The module requires students to have knowledge acquired at 2.1 Financial Reporting. The module also requires students to be familiar with the current developments and issues in corporate reporting.
The module is assessed by a 3-hour examination with 5 compulsory questions. The pass mark is 50%. The module has a weight of 25% in the Professional level. The module progresses from 2.1 Financial Reporting and leads to 3.4 Strategic Case Study.
